If a late payment appears on your Capitalise credit profile and you weren’t expecting it, follow these steps to investigate and resolve it.
1. Note the date of the late payment:
In your Capitalise credit profile, carefully note the month and year the late payment was reported. This will help you narrow down the timeframe in your internal records.
2. Review your payment records:
Check your payment logs, accounting system, or bank statements for that period and look out for:
Payments that were made after the due date
Payments that failed or were returned
Any discrepancies or communication issues with suppliers
3. Identify potential creditors or suppliers:
Based on your payment records, try to pinpoint which lender or supplier might have reported the late payment.
Consider any payments that were slightly delayed or where there might have been a misunderstanding.
4. Contact Experian for more details
Capitalise does not have access to the specific creditor or supplier that reported the late payment. To get this information:
A company director must call Experian Commercial Support directly:
📞 0345 045 8081 (select option 2)
Mention that you’re a Capitalise customer requesting creditor details linked to a reported late payment.
5. Dispute the entry if needed:
If you believe the late payment was reported incorrectly:
You can formally dispute the entry with Experian
You’ll need the name of the reporting creditor to proceed
